31 January 2017The unique art exhibition of the International Festival under the auspices of UNESCO “Children are painting the world. Asia” is organized from 28 January to 8 February, 2017 for the guests and champions of student's games at the “Medal Plaza” in Almaty. The exposition is launched in the main hall of Palace of the Republic, where the best athletes and honorable guests of the awarding ceremonies have a chance to be involved into the world of art. In order to promote the major places of Almaty, the artworks of young artists demonstrate all beauty of the architecture and nature of the cultural capital of Kazakhstan. At the same time, especially composed elements of decorative and applied arts discover the rich traditions of the Kazakh people.
The exhibition consists of works of the finalists of the project, representing two leading art colleges of the country – College of the Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after Zhurgenov and Almaty College of Decorative and Applied Arts named after Tansykbayev, which are also the UNESCO Clubs.
As a reminder, in 2016 the project “Children are painting the world. Asia”, operated by Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs, has received a wide international recognition and has expanded its frames to the Asia-Pacific Region. More than 7 000 young artists aged from 3 to 17 years have participated in the International Festival. The final of the project gather in Almaty 150 winners from such countries as China, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Russia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan in September 2016. In October, 2016 this project was included into the official program for the celebration of the 1000th Anniversary of the city of Almaty in UNESCO Headquarters in Paris and has been presented to world community as one of significant initiatives in the field of the development of children's creativity.
It should be noted that this exposition is presented within the initiatives of UNESCO Almaty Office and Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs in support of the organization of the 28th Winter Universiade in Almaty.
