The third phase of UNESCO - International Sustainable Energy Development Centre educational program

The third phase of a joint UNESCO ISEDC educational program on renewable and sustainable energy was run in Moscow from 5 April to 21 May 2010.

This training program was aimed at specialists from developing and emerging countries who have an excellent command of Russian and possess substantial experience in power engineering and management. It was also intended for teachers running energy-related courses at institutes of higher learning. One representative of Kyrgyzstan took part in this training.

The third phase of the program was implemented at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute (Technical University), or MPEI for short. Program participants were offered an 80-hour course comprising the following modules:
  • Energy and Sustainable Development;

  • Renewable Energy;
  • Environmental Management of Energy Resources;
  • Sustainable Energy Production: development prospects of electrical equipment used in the power generation industry.

Course participants also familiarized themselves with research programs developed by the Department of Engineering and High-Voltage Electrophysics, high voltage testing laboratory, Department of Energy System Protection Equipment and Automation, Department of Electric Power Systems and Grids etc.

At the end of the educational program all participants were awarded official MPEI certificates evidencing the successful completion of a short professional training course as well as certificates of participation in the joint ISEDC UNESCO educational program
